About The Band
The Sugar Baby Loves are proud and excited to announce the release of their second single, ‘Born To Do It’, which is a Rock track at its core and explores the ideas of a rock band growing more mature like a fine Boujoulais Wine, while being hugely thankful to the fans and for their lot!
This website was originally created to promote their first ever release, “Honey Love”. It is a retro style recording reminiscent of the seventies bands such as Bay City Rollers, Mud and Rubettes, but with a surprising ecological twist.
Both ‘Born To Do It’ & ‘Honey Love’ were written by John Richardson & Mike Voss (one of Germany’s top producers and artists).
John, the group’s drummer, and Mick, the bassist, were both in the original 70’s line up of The Rubettes and played with them for around 25 years apiece.
In 1973/74 John formed the international chart topping band, The Rubettes, who sold around 30 million records worldwide, the foremost of those records was “Sugar baby Love”, hence the new band name.
They are joined by top session musicians and close vocal harmonists Mark Wright on guitar and Steve Etherington on keys.
Later in the year The Sugar Baby Loves will be releasing an album entitled “Heartbreak Avenue” and intend to tour both here in the UK as well as Europe, so keep checking in for dates and venues..
